Popis: Aim: This study aims to verify and compare the acute and chronic effects of high-intensity interval training and moderate-intensity continuous training sessions on the linear and nonlinear heart rate variability indexes, responses of blood pressure, aerobic power, aerobic capacity, and quality of life from patients with systemic arterial hypertension. Methods: Controlled, randomized clinical trial with intention-to-treat analysis. Non-alcoholic, non-diabetic patients between 18 and 60 years of age, with a diagnosis of prehypertension or stage I hypertension for at least 12 months and with controlled blood pressure levels. Conclusion: This protocol study intends to show that high-intensity interval exercise in controlled hypertensive patients with low cardiovascular risk has a greater hypotensive effect, as well as an increase in vagal modulation on the heart.
