Quasi-Elastic Barrier Distribution for the [sup 7]Li+[sup 144]Sm Weakly Bound System

Popis: We have measured the excitation function of quasielastic and elastic scattering, at backward angles, for a range of energies from below to above the Coulomb barrier, for the 7Li+144Sm system. Barrier distributions were exctracted from these excitation functions by a numerical method. From the theoretical analysis one concluded that the quadrupole and octupole excitations of 144Sm and the one‐neutron transfer (stripping) channel are important reaction processes. Nevertheless, the agreement with the experimental results is poor. The discrepancy is attributed to the 7Li break‐up channel that was not taken into account in the coupling scheme.
