Popis:	We describe the development of a patient simulator designed to be used to investigate the management strategies of anaesthetists during critical incidents. The patient simulator is a real-time knowledge based system which mimics the behaviour of a patient experiencing difficulties during certain anaesthetic procedures. We outline the design decisions taken during the development of the patient simulator and discuss its possible uses.
