Popis: | The importance of studying the scattering of light by suspensions of bacteria and interesting results were presented for determining the spectral characteristics of light which is scattered by a number of bacterial preparations (Fikhman, 1963). The processing of the experimental data of Fikhman on the basis of conclusive theoretical treatments of the Mie theory makes it possible to determine the relative index of refraction m of bacterial sphere-shaped cells. In the present report consideration is given to the importance of the problem of turbidimetry of bacterial suspensions on the whole, and also the phenomenon of the dependency of the refraction index of the bacterial cells on their metabolic activity (living and dead bacteria have different refraction indices). |
