Popis: | Angiosperms do not form chlorophyll (Chl) in complete darkness but accumulate the precursor protochlorophyllide (Pchlide a) instead. Upon transfer of these plants to light, the last two enzymatic steps of Chl biosynthesis take place. These steps are the reduction of Pchlide a to chlorophyllide a (Chlide a) and prenylation of the latter with formation of Chl (Fig. 1). We have investigated these steps with the isolated and recombinant enzymes, respectively. Recent progress in the knowledge of these enzymatic steps will be reported here. |
