Popis: | Smartphone usage has dramatically increased over the past 10 years. This is due in part to the increased functionality of the portable device. Smartphone users depend on the instant access to limitless information made available by using this portable device. The downside to this growing trend is the smartphone’s limitation of battery power. To address this growing concern, designers implement smartphone power management techniques which can be hardware-based or software-based optimizations. We have chosen software level optimizations because these techniques are more robust. This paper introduces a novel customizable power management scheme that prioritizes smartphone application access based on the users’ usage profile to conserve battery life. The results are more than promising because the user’s power savings increase as the amount of time the smartphone operates in the customized power management mode increases. |
