This paper presents the results of research activities that CESI and, from 2006 onwards, CESI RICERCA, have been conducting to get a general picture of wind conditions all over Italy as well as an estimate of the actually exploitable wind energy potential for electricity generation. Results are also described of scenario studies carried out by models to analyze the possible role of wind energy in the Italian electricity system up to the year 2030 under given assumptions and to assess the impact of envisaged wind deployment scenarios on the development of the electricity grid. |
