Popis: | The grass-lawn armyworm, Spodoptera cilium (Guenee, 1852) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), causes considerable losses in graminaceous plants. The effects of fenvalerate at LC50 (211.4 mg a.i. L−1) and LC30 (151.6 mg a.i. L−1) concentrations were investigated on biological parameters of S. cilium in two successive generations. Fenvalerate significantly prolonged the developmental period of larvae and pupae of both generations, as well as reducing the adult longevity and fecundity compared to the control group. Furthermore, the life table parameters, including gross reproduction rate (GRR), net reproductive rate (R0), intrinsic rate of increase (r), and finite rate of increase (λ) of offspring generation, in the LC30 and LC50-treated groups were significantly lower than the control group. While the mean generation time (T) of fenvalerate-treated groups was extended. According to our results, the sublethal concentration of fenvalerate could be effective in controlling the population of later generations and can be used as a tool in the integrated management program of S. cilium. |
