As hair restoration techniques evolve, each year numerous theories, techniques, and technology are declared to be the best possible approach to hair restoration by their proponents. It may be assumed that some of these "new" concepts have validity, at least for certain patients. However, scientific data or statistical evidence is not generally presented, and without such data and examination of results, there is a great deal of confusion among patients and surgeons alike. In an effort to scientifically observe objective results among the new methodology/technology, several case studies were performed at the WHS/ISHRS Live Workship during 1999 and 2000. The intent of each study was to select comparable techniques or technology and utilize them on the same patient. This permitted a comparison of each method vs. previous accepted methods of transplantation. These studies represent a small trial and will hopefully stimulate further research with larger study groups. |
