Popis:	Rampant caries is a possible sequela to irradiation in the region of the head and neck. The dentist must recognize his responsibility for the preoperative and postoperative treatment of the patient to be irradiated, because the dental care may be lifesaving. Neglect of the oral tissues and teeth leading to infection and/or extraction may be the cause of osteoradionecrosis and death even though the cancer has been eliminated. Three patients who demonstrate the effects of irradiation on the teeth and an approach to a method of treatment have been presented.
