A superdeformed band has been identified in 194 Pb, populated in the 158 Gd( 40 Ar, 4n) reaction. The dynamic moment of inertia J (2) is very similar to the ones of the superdeformed bands in 192 Hg and 194 Hg. This suggests that the high- N intruder configuration π 6 4 ν 7 4 determines the properties of the superdeformed core also in 194 Pb. |
