Popis: Climate change induced the variation in frequency, distribution and intensity of rainfall throughout the world. Due to these variations, some natural phenomena like flash flood occurrence become uncertain in low lying area like Bangladesh. The present paper is an attempt to understand flash flood vulnerability of Sunamganj district which is the northern part of Bangladesh. The study initially outlines the reason behind the flash flood occurrence in the district. The historical records show that the flash flood hits the district in mid of May in 1990s. Due to change of precipitation in upstream, flash flood occurs mid of April for last few years. This paper is an attempt to find out the present uncertainties of flash flood incidence on the basis of rainfall data of Cherrapunji catchment and Sylthet region from 1980 to 2010. Finally, current study shows the reduction of precipitation in month of May of these catchment areas. Keyword: Flashflood, climate change and Cherrapunji catchment
