Popis: After nearly two decades of evolution, enhanced recovery after anesthesia has become a best practice pathway for most types of surgeries. A key feature includes multimodal analgesia from which many evidence-based studies have demonstrated reduced opioid consumption and quicker discharge after surgery. In the present chapter, we summarize the key components of these recipes that currently represent mainstream thinking, in particular in ambulatory surgical centers. Although there is continuous refinement to the details of best practice enhanced recovery protocols, the present chapter highlights important concepts and components in the setting of ambulatory surgery.
