Electronic nicotine delivery product (ENDP) aerosols have been shown to contain significantly lower levels of harmful and potentially harmful constituents than cigarette smoke. In this chapter, we focus on the highly reactive chemical radicals and combustion-related solid particles of cigarette smoke and discuss their relative abundance in ENDP aerosols. Recent studies have reported that ENDP aerosols contain significantly lower levels of radicals than cigarette smoke. A comparative analysis of ENDP aerosols and cigarette smoke unambiguously demonstrated that cigarette smoke contains combustion-related solid particles and that ENDP aerosols only contain liquid droplets. |
