Popis: The current experience in a pandemic context encourages a reflection on how people experienced similar situations in the past. Focusing on the Spanish Flu crisis in Rio de Janeiro, in 1918, we propose to analyze from a historical perspective some illustrations and photographs of the disease in the press. The images are grouped into three themes: the election of external culprits for the flu, the worsening of the health situation and its consequences for the population, and the representation of political leaders. Throughout the text, we seek to draw dialogues with the contemporary panorama, plagued by Covid-19.
