Popis: | Pitch controlled wind turbines (WT) are used for large scale wind energy conversion systems. Thus, a new pitch angle control system is presented in this paper based on adaptive PI controller. The controller relies on different optimization algorithms to tune its gains which regulate the blade aerodynamics power through blade’s pitch angles adjusting. A comparison has been held between the adaptive PI and a conventional PID controller to prove its validation. The adaptive PI showed improved electrical and mechanical behaviors for the wind turbine relying on its self-tuning parameters. The controller has been subjected to many case studies of different wind speed profiles to single out the most efficient algorithm. The controller showed robustness to the nonlinearity of the wind turbine systems and changes in system parameters. All the algorithms have proved their efficiency and the harmony search algorithm (HSA) hybrid Teaching learning-based optimization (TLBO) algorithm showed the most convenient responses when used to select the adaptive PI controller parameters. |
