Popis: | The near-threshold fissioning of 234U in the 0.2–0.9 MeV range of neutron energy displays resonance-like behavior with sharp variation of the angular distribution of fission fragments. The behavior of the fission cross section and angular distribution of fragments is attributed to resonance-like vibrational excitations of class III in the second isomeric potential well. The fission cross section and angular distribution of fragments are calculated with the Hauser–Feshbach model using the TALYS code. The calculated fission cross sections and the anisotropy of fragments are compared to experimental findings. Quantum numbers are obtained for the vibrational excitation of a highly deformed nucleus. |
