This is an update to a previously published scoping review on the subject matter from other Indian authors. It is widely known that tinnitus is difficult to cure. Hence, it is worthwhile to study its management trends across the globe. As there are equivocal views on the effectiveness of any particular therapies, it is not advisable to conduct a conventional interventional review oriented towards treatment and its outcomes. Therefore, we plan to conduct a scoping review to cover the best possible evidence from the health system perspective. Although there is a scoping review done in past on this subject by Makar SK and the team in 2017, we expect our study to include additional qualitative insights on disease management with a holistic viewpoint. The previous study did not use any research question mnemonic. But, we will use standard mnemonic recommended for scoping reviews by Joanna Briggs Institute of Evidence-based Medicine. Also, Makar SK et al. provided no information about the registration of their scoping review protocol. Hence, this updated, systematic method of scoping review is envisaged to include comprehensive evidence on the subject matter with a more scientific approach . |
