Popis: Background: A baby’s growth and development can be influenced by the pattern of feeding of breastmilk provided the baby at the beginning of life. The coverage rate of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still low. In 2017 babies who received exclusive breastfeeding for up to 6 months were only 35.73%. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the infant feeding practices and identify the factors that influence the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Methods: This research was a descriptive analysis study with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 421 mothers were involved in this study, determined by cluster random sampling, from 10 Puskesmas located in the Sleman Yogyakarta region, Indonesia. The research was conducted between June 2019 to April 2020. Ethical approval number was Ref: KE/FK/0149/EC/2019. Results: Infant feeding practice was high with 82.4% of infants who received exclusive breastfeeding. Employment status, knowledge, attitudes of mothers and self-efficacy about breastfeeding have significant correlations with exclusive breastfeeding, while other factors include: mother's education, mother's age, previous breastfeeding experience, and experience of getting health education about breastfeeding do not have a correlation with exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusions: Most of the breastfeeding practices in Sleman Regency have reached the target level of exclusive breastfeeding. Employment status, knowledge, mothers’ attitudes and self-efficacy about breastfeeding are factors that can encourage the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding.
