This paper deals with the various types of ionization chambers used for measurement of the bremsstrahlung intensity. A brief description of these chambers is given and their characteristics, in particular: sensitivity at different peak energies of the beam, highest possible values of the measured intensities and data dependence on the beam diameter, are discussed. It is shown that absolute chamber calibrations made in different laboratories by different methods lead to results, which agree within the accuracy of the measurements. The quantameter turns out to be the most useful for intensity measurements because its sensitivity only slightly depends on the energy and may be calculated on theoretical grounds. |
