NEW STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS TESTED IN SPAIN AND SOUTH ITALY

| Popis: | Ten new cultivars bred in Spain, California, Florida and Italy were compared against control cultivars âCamarosaâ and âSabrosaâ in 2010-2011. The trial was run in six fields located in the six southern European districts: Moguer, Palos de la Frontera and Almonte in Huelva, Spain; and Lamezia, Battipaglia and Scanzano Jonico, Italy. Winter planting took place from 18-22 October 2010 and bare-root plants from an upland Spanish nursery were employed. The performance of each cultivar was rated by hardiness, cropping, pest and disease tolerance, fruit appearance, sensory attributes and shelf-life, and the results are reported. |
