The analyses in this collection of papers show some of the complexities associated with asking and telling activities. The complexities are discussed in four domains: : the relationships between epistemics and asking and telling; the moral status of the referents of inquiries and reports; inferences necessitated in asking and telling; and the positions within action sequences and activities of asking and telling actions. A final word is offered on the centrality of participants’ sense-making and reasoning in conversation analytic research. |
