In these recollections I apologize for being personal in my choice of topics, biased and selective in emphasising my own work and that of colleagues at the University of Uppsala. My exposure to the research on carbonic anhydrase (CA) at this university greatly influenced my decision to stay within the CA field. Over the years I have now and then been inclined to leave research and go into clinical medicine, which I finally did. In a way, this is therefore the story of why I stayed as long as I did. |
