Popis: | A cathodo- and photoluminescent system with a zero-phonon line at 2.526 eV (491 nm) is often present decorating slip planes in type IaB diamonds. In this paper a photoluminescence study of the system is reported. The shape and temperature dependence of the luminescence band are described and interpreted in terms of linear coupling to totally symmetric independent modes. The effects on the zero-phonon line of uniaxial stresses are reported and analysed quantitatively, showing that the 2.526 eV transition occurs at a monoclinic I centre between two A′ states. The anomalous intensities of some of the stress-split components can be explained by a non-random distribution of optical centres. |
