Popis: Solubility is estimated and the physicochemical properties (ionic conductivity, viscosity, and relative density) of sodium perchlorate solutions in sulfolane are studied in a wide ranges of concentrations and temperatures. The solubility of NaClO4 in sulfolane (0.53 mol/L) is found to be much lower than that of LiClO4 (2.77 mol/L). The specific ionic conductivities of sodium and lithium perchlorate solutions of equal concentrations in sulfolane are comparable, and the viscosities of sodium perchlorate solutions are higher than those of lithium perchlorate solutions. It is shown that the corrected ionic conductivities of sodium perchlorate solutions in sulfolane are higher than those of lithium perchlorate solutions, indicating the higher degree of electrolytic dissociation of sodium perchlorate. It is concluded that the activation energies of the ionic conductivity and viscous flow of sodium perchlorate solutions in sulfolane are higher than those of lithium perchlorate, due to the larger size of solvated Na+ ions relative to solvated Li+ ions. The anodic stability of sodium perchlorate solution in sulfolane is 5.45 V vs. Na/Na+ reference electrode; this is 0.2–0.5 V higher than the anodic stability of sodium perchlorate solutions in organic carbonates.
