Popis: | High temperatures are one of the main problems encountered in disc brakes, contributing to rapid wear and poor braking performance. In this paper, a two-dimensional finite element model using a thermomechanical algorithm is used to predict the evolution of the bearing surface and temperature distribution at the interface between the disc and pad. After determination of the temperature of a conventional brake configuration, the behaviour of several modified friction pad designs is simulated numerically in order to improve contact and so to achieve lower surface temperatures. |
