Our work aims to address the gap in terms of lack of information with farmers in rural Karnataka by recommending markets at which they can reap the maximum monetary benefit for their produce. Decisions on which market to choose are highly dependent on the prices they can sell their produce at, coupled with the logistic costs to deliver their produce to the market. Providing the farming community with a solution that balances the tradeoff between the two factors to enable maximum profits will prove invaluable to an economy that is primarily agrarian. The purpose of the proposed method is two-fold - to determine which crop is the most beneficial to sell, and at which market will prove to be the most profitable. This application uses real time data to fulfill two use cases - namely recommendation of crops and recommendation of markets to farmers using a simple interface, which is available in the local language. |
