Popis:	The article presents the results of a systematic analysis of land use in the world and the Russian Federation, which has a significant potential for agricultural land. The authors analyze such issues as the land reform and formation of a mixed agricultural sector; the use of farmland and arable land assigned to users; soil fertility depletion; a sharp reduction in the use of mineral and organic fertilizers; underestimation of the role of crop rotations.
