Popis: The performance of twelve cassava clones for table consumption and of ten clones for the industry was evaluated under field conditions in relation to the infestation by the shoot fly Neosilba perezi . Two experiments were carried out at the Experimental Station of Pariquera-Acu, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, during the 1991/92 growing season. The evaluations were made four months after shooting started. In both cassava groups, different levels of shoot fly infestation were observed. In the group for table, the most resistant (IAC 289-70) presented an average of 0.25 bored shoots per plant, while the most suscetible (F 4015), of 2.40. The clones SRT 1140-Vassourinha amarela, F 5141 and IAC 576-70 could also be rated as resistant, since they presented average numbers of bored shoots per plant lower than 1, and did not differ from IAC 289-70. In the group for the industry, a narrower amplitude was observed between the least and the most infested, IAC 105-66 (0.40) and SRT 1174 (1.35). In the same experimental area, the presence of Ganaspis pelleranoi (Brethes) (Hymenoptera: Eucoilidae) parasiting larvae of N. perezi was also observed.
