Popis: | The principles and designs of transformer accelerators (TA) generating intense beams of charged particles over energy ranges 0.5-5 Mev are described. Pulse electron accelerators with pulse length of 10-8 to 10-5sec are investigated (some of them have a repetition rate of several hundreds pps) as well as one-phase d three-phase 50-cps transformers. The most models' power conversion efficiency is in the range of 60-95%, the averaged beam power comes up to or exceeds 10 kW and is in excess of 150 kW for one of the last models. The design of a 5 Mev single-pulse TA with peak current of 30 kA at pulse length of 40 nsec and of 1.2 Mev proton TA with average beam power of 10 kW are described. The features of main components of high voltage transformers and of intense current acceleration tubes are discussed. |
