Cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by chemical method, and study their microstructure and optical characteristics utilized X- ray diffraction XRD, Atomic force microscopy AFM, and UV–VIS spectroscopy, and the electrical properties was also studied. The XRD pattern exhibited the cubic phase structure of CdS NPs at 2θ values of 26.3°, 43.8°, and 51.8°. UV– VIS spectra showed high absorption in the UV wavelength region with a bandgap of about 3.75 eV which is greater than that bulk CdS indicating a blue shift due to the quantum confinement effect. The prepared heterojunction has good responsivity about 0.34 A/W at 380 nm; therefore, based on this value, is a simple, low-cost, and promising method to fabricate photodetectors. The results of the current work indicate that the reactant sources in such a chemical method can affect the optical & physical properties of the produced semiconductor nanoparticles, consequently influenced the optoelectronic performance of related heterojunction. |
