Popis: | This paper presents an experimental investigation on the effects of soluble cutting fluid-based CuO-nanofluid with boric acid-nanoparticles additives on machining force, surface roughness, and tool wear in high-speed turning operation of hardened AISI 4340 tool steel. In this research, a lubricant supply system has been designed for utilizing nanofluid in machining operation. Experiments are carried out with various proportions of boric acid 0.25, 0.5, and 1% by weight as nanoparticles additives in different cutting conditions. The results are also compared with the outputs of similar tests through dry cutting condition and turning under soluble cutting fluid. The results show that the use of nanoparticle suspensions improves the machining conditions in a way that the machining force, the surface roughness, and the tool wear have considerably reduced under different cutting conditions. Accordingly, the obtained results lead to decrease in machining time and tool consumption that directly influence the energy consumption in machining operation. |
