Background: Achieving of asthma control based on regular performance of the recommendations on the treatment is difficult without the necessary motivation of the patients. Aim: to study the influence of motivation special aspects and the type of motivation to treatment on asthma control. Methods: 108 patients (mean age 43.2±0.9 years) with asthma of a different severity were divided into two groups: the 1st group included 35 patients with controlled asthma and the 2nd group - 73 patients with uncontrolled asthma. Mehrabian Achieving Tendency Scale (MATS), Motivational Orientation test (L.Bogovin), Asthma Control Test (ACT), and interviewing were used. Results: 84% of patients with uncontrolled asthma were found to have the motivation to escape failures by MATS. The mean values of the motivational orientation test were lower in the 2nd group (р Conclusions: The majority of patients with uncontrolled asthma have the motivation to failure escape and negative motivation orientation. There is a necessity to correct the qualitative component of motivation to treatment in patients with asthma. |
