Microstructure evolution during mechanically induced martensitic transformation in Fe-33%Ni-0.1%C

Popis: The microstructures developed in Fe-31%Ni-0.1%C during mechanically induced martensitic transformation were analysed by quantitative metallography. The austenitic grain size was found to influence the extent of the reaction and the homogeneity of the resultant microstructure. The experimental results indicate that the microstructure changes with the progress of the reaction in the same way as observed during an athermal transformation.
