Popis: Apart from symptom relief — a readily observable and accepted effect of coronary bypass operations — improvement in long-term survival is an important goal. This effect has been shown in prospective randomized trials to be important in those subgroups of coronary heart disease with a poor survival on medical treatment. Analysis of long-term survival in surgically treated groups without a concomitant medically treated control group may be justifiable, as they have value in providing confirmatory evidence for the general applicability of surgical treatment at a society level. The purpose of this presentation is to analyze our own experience with aortocoronary bypass operations over a period of 15 years.
