Effect of minor Fe substitution for Ni on the magnetic properties of a Gd55Al20Ni25 bulk metallic glass

Popis: | In this work, we studied the effect of micro-alloying on the glass-forming ability (GFA) and magnetic properties of [Formula: see text] bulk metallic glass (BMG). By minor Fe substitution for Ni, we obtained [Formula: see text] BMG with enhanced magneto-caloric effect (MCE) and GFA similar to [Formula: see text] BMG. The maximum magnetic entropy change [Formula: see text] and the magnetic refrigerant capacity ([Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] BMG within the field range of 5 T are about 9.05 J kg[Formula: see text] K[Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], respectively, both of which are larger than the values of [Formula: see text] BMG. The mechanism for the improved MCE of the [Formula: see text] BMG was investigated and the magneto-caloric behaviors were studied by constructing the field dependence of [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] BMG. |
