This article examined the level of importance of various sustainability features have with residents for cohousing residents in cohousing communities that have been completed between the years 2000 and 2009. And the purpose of this article was to identify specific priorities of existing cohousing residents with regard to sustainable building design and practice as outlined in the LEED for Homes design protocol. Having an understanding of the environmental priorities of existing cohousing groups will give some direction to future residents and developers to focus on areas that are most appealing to those who choose to live in a socially connected community. Knowing that generations of users may have different priorities helps to target decisionmaking within a group so that consensus can be reached. |
