Effect of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy on Oral Manifestations of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection in Japanese Patients

Popis: Objective: Protease inhibitors became available in Japan in April 1997. This study was performed to compare changes in oral manifestations between the pre- and post-highly active antiretroviral therapy periods in Japanese patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection. Patients and Methods: Twenty seven Japanese patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection were investigated. The backgrounds (age, sex, and risk group), immune status at first visit and changes with time, associated systemic diseases, and oral manifestations were examined using patients' clinical records.
