Popis: | Assimilation of nutrients from compounded diets by the prawns Palaemon serratus and Pandalus platyceros was studied. Values for the assimilation of total nitrogen by P. serratus from rations containing 60% of different food meals of animal and vegetable origin ranged from 79.6% for whale-meat meal to 95.1% for B.P. protein concentrate. Mean assimilation from three diets containing 60% of different commercial fish meals was 89.0%. At dietary levels of 47.5% the carbohydrates wheat starch, glycogen and dextrin were completely assimilated by P. serratus and potato starch was 90.6% assimilated. Fewer determinations were made with P. platyceros but results suggested that it assimilated nutrients slightly less efficiently than P. serratus. |
