Popis: As an explanation of the title of this chapter, mini-anterior frontal sinusotomy (MAFS) is regarded as synonymous with “trephination”. Frontal trephination is a procedure in which a trephine is used to make a small hole in the frontal bone. MAFS implies making a small hole (trephination) through an anterior wall (table) of the frontal sinus (AWFS) in order to enter a frontal sinus (FS) or both FSs. The trephine, the original instrument used for trephination, is not the only instrument used for trephination. Other instruments, e.g., a needle, a trocar, a chisel, a gouge or a drill, can also be used for trephination.
