Safety concerns and fierce competitiveness in the industry pressure industrial plants and manufacturers to acquire systems designed to be as reliable as possible. In this chapter, the reliability of a power plant safety system is optimized through the reliability-redundancy allocation method, under the design constraints. The optimization problem is solved by resorting to two nature-inspired algorithms, namely the gray wolf optimizer (GWO) and the shuffled frog-leaping algorithm (SFLA). Penalty functions are implemented to handle the constraints and the results obtained are used to compare the performances of the algorithms. |
