Dynamics of laser plasma convective plume in high pressure xenon

Popis: | This paper presents the results of numerical simulation of convective plume pulsations from a concentrated heat source equivalent to a continuous optical discharge (COD) in high pressure xenon compared to originally obtained experimental results. Simulated dynamic distributions of temperature, density and velocity of the gas around small spheroidal heat release zone are obtained, showing the process of formation of toroidal vortices in the convection zone, leading to the appearance of pulsations. The simulation results are qualitatively and quantitatively consistent with previously obtained experimental data. |
