Degradation of protocatechuic acid by Pseudomonas solanacearum

Popis: Summary Pseudomonas solanacearum exhibited alternate pathways of protocatechuate dissimilation which was concentration dependent. Protocatechuate at 2 mM was directly cleaved to s-carboxy cis, cis-muconic acid by protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase but at higher concentrations of 5 mM and 10 mM, it was decarboxylated to catechol. Protocatechuate induced both protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase and catechol 1,2-dioxygenase. Induction was profoundly influenced by inducer concentration.
