Popis: | The electrical conductance enhancement and the weight change of high modulus graphite filaments were measured during intercalation at 23 – 100 °C with gaseous or liquid SbF 5 , AsF 5 , HSO 3 F, and combinations of these. With excess intercalant, the intercalation proceeds monotonically to about Stage I accompanied by an up to 50 times increase in filament conductance and 100 – 300% gain in fiber weight, depending on the nature of the intercalant. Combinations or successive treatments with two intercalants were used to modify and optimize the intercalation kinetics. The addition of fluorine to the fluoride intercalant accelerates the intercalation, but is detrimental to the electrical conductivity. |
