This section provides studies that examined the overlap between interpersonal violence along with animal cruelty. It also supported the idea that animal cruelty is a “reliable red flag” regarding the presence of child abuse or domestic violence. Another study presented indicated that women who experience domestic violence and enter a shelter express concern about abuse against their companion animals. One study found that 71% reported that their partner had threatened and/or actually hurt or killed one or more of their pets. |
