Popis: | The thermochemical properties of the olivine solid solution {xNiSi0.5O2 + (1−x)MgSi0.5O2)(s, sln) were investigated by galvanic-cell measurements in the range from x = 1 to x = 3.31 × 10−4. The solid solution exhibits positive deviations from ideality. The e.m.f.s, combined with electron dispersive spectroscopy measurements on the homogeneity of the studied compound, suggest the presence of the mixed silicate Ni0.25Mg0.75Si0.5O2 and a low solubility of NiSi0.5O2. At low values of x, i.e. x ⩽ 0.102, there is a well defined exponential dependence of the activity coefficient γ(NiSi0.5O2, sln) on x. |
