Popis: The R Oilfield in Kazakhstan is a highly matured oilfield with a development history for over 20 years. Wells in this oilfield are characterized by multiple perforation stages, long perforation interval, and high heterogeneity between and in layers. In addition, 70% of existing wells have been treated by acid fracturing. To enhance the oil production performance of existing wells, promote the producing level of reservoirs and increase the well productivity, plugging and diverting technologies are preferred for stimulate the fractured carbonate reservoirs. Through comparison, degradable fiber was selected as the plugging material. Lab tests were performed to assess the plugging and degradation performance of the degradable fiber and its compatibility with acid. On this basis, some principles were highlighted for on-site applications. The pilot test in the first well in 2014 revealed that the temporary plugging fiber achieved desirable plugging and diverting performances to enhance the well productivity significantly. The applications in 12 wells in 2015 also demonstrated satisfactory productivity enhancements. It is concluded that the degradable fiber is useful for stimulation treatments in old wells.
