The sources of fundamental soliton trains with repetition rates of 10-100 GHz are of grate interest for fiber optic communication lines. A method for generation of such trains based on the double-frequency beating signal transformation in a Dispersion Decreasing Fiber (DDF) in the negative GVD region has been recently proposed [1]. Adiabatic compression of a signal into a train of fundamental solitons allows to create a CW source, generating at repetition rates of about 100 GHz [2,3]. Reduction of the lower limit of the repetition rate down to a few tens of GHz is highly attractive for soliton based communication lines of the nearest future. However the lower limit of the repetition rate Ω, that can be generated by this method is connected with the DDF length L suitable for practical application (L~1/Ω2 and for Ω10 km). |
