Popis: | This paper presents the results of a study of the possibility of ultrasonic diagnosis of sarcopenia in elderly and senile patients suffering from heart failure. All patients (63 individuals, average age 77.2 ± 7.7 years) underwent dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Sarcopenia was diagnosed in 31 patients (FNIH Sarcopenia Project, 2014). Areas of the shoulder muscle (m. biceps brachii), thigh muscle (m. rectus femoris), and three forearm muscles (m. brachioradialis, m. extensor carpi radialis longus, and m. extensor carpi radialis brevis) were assessed. Two ultrasonic models developed with the use of multiple linear regression analysis are proposed for the diagnosis of sarcopenia with a diagnostic accuracy of 92 and 93.6%. The models are based on the sum of the limb muscle areas adjusted for sex, height, and body weight. |
