Electronic structure of single-crystal RMn2O5 multiferroics (R = Y, Bi, Eu, Gd) according to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data

Popis: | Single crystals of orthorhombic multiferroics RMn2O5 (R = Y, Bi, Eu, Gd) and of hexagonal YMnO3 are grown from a solution-melt by mass crystallization. Using an ESCALAB 250 microprobe analysis system, the X-ray photoelectron spectra of valence bands of the multiferroics are obtained. The spectra are interpreted by calculations of the electronic structure of compounds that are close in crystalline structure to the multiferroics studied in this work, as well as by the multiplet structure of rare-earth 4f elements. |
